Sealant Treatment Plans

Sealant treatment plans ONLY have sealants on them. Because they are really quick plans to put together a treatment coordinator will only go into the room once they are ready to present the plan.

Step 1:

The Hygienist will call over the radio that they need a sealant treatment plan in whichever suite they are in. If you are unsure which hygienist called and can’t figure out which patient it is for, then ask over the walkies.

Step 2:

Using the verrific ticket and other insurance information, correct the coverage for the sealants and then save the treatment plan. Grab one of the tablets from the front and pull the treatment plan up on it.

Step 3:

Go to the suite. The hygienist should pause what they are doing so you can then present the plan to the patient.

Step 4:

Present the sealant treatment plan with the estimated costs. Sealants often aren’t covered for adults. If a patient asks why their insurance is not investing any into the treatment, something to keep in mind and even possibly mention to the patient is that the out of pocket cost for a sealant is comparable to the copay due for a filling if not less.

Step 5:

Review the paragraph at the bottom of the treatment plan and have the patient sign. Encourage the patient to stay for same day service. If the patient does not want to stay, see if they would like to schedule to come back another time or do it at their next cleaning. If they do not stay, they will need to pay a $50 RD to schedule the treatment.
