Working as a Team

Learning to work together as a Business Team is one of the most important parts of your job. How well our team members communicate both on stage and off stage truly determines the quality of the dental work we are able to provide and has a huge impact on the patient experience. In this first week notice how many different forms of communication we use and what we use each type of communication for:

  • Headsets
  • Handoffs
  • Task lists
  • Follow up lists
  • Checklists
  • Routing slips
  • Lab slips
  • Treatment notes
  • Slack messages
  • Emails

As you get more familiar reading the schedule in OpenDental you will see the different doctor and hygiene schedules and columns. Since the front office team are the “quarterbacks” of the office, we are primarily responsible for filling the schedule, organizing the flow of the schedule and making sure each patient’s experience is phenomenal each time they visit. Working together to adjust provider’s appointments to optimize everyone’s time, daily production, and goals should be the daily focus. During the 90 day getting acquainted period, it is your responsibility to work diligently to learn how the schedule works as well as learn what your responsibilities are and why they are important to the vision of the practice. Our practice and team is always growing and we want to bring you along with the growth!

Your go to person, who will be able to help answer your questions as you move through this training process, will be your Business Team Lead. Use her as a role model to guide your behavior and as your first point of contact if you are lost or confused.
