What is Nitrous?
- Nitrous or laughing gas is an option our office provides to patients who are nervous or anxious about receiving dental treatment.
- Nitrous can “take the edge off” and help patients relax
- Nitrous gas is safe for patients.
- It only lasts about 5 minutes after being breathed in so it is even safe for patients to drive themselves too and from their appointment.
- If it will make the patient more comfortable, they are welcomed to have someone drive and wait for them during their appointment
- If a patient is interested in an oral sedative, like valium or xanax, a conversation will need to be had with the doctor to see if that is a possibility.
- If a patient is interested in being put to sleep for dental treatment, we can talk to the doctor to see if they are able to provide a referral to a specialist’s office.
